Shakes played in several different bands through the nineties, including folk/experimental jazz outfit, Tiger Roach (before Papa Roach made anything with 'roach' in it sound lame) and live drum n bass act, Coomassie.
Before long all that boom bap left him cold and he wondered what it would be like to play music without having to mess with computers like a nerd.
He teamed up with Brett Raybould and co-wrote Dyin' from STDs - Shakes knew then that this guy was on the level.
Emotional at turns, and frequently just offensive, Shakes' new album is a richly organic experience for those of you fed up with music that has no soul. |
