Ruderalis UK Hip Hop

In 2001 Shakes started making tunes with Scally and Tobes as Ruderalis. His style of production mixes live music, samples and programmed beats, taking inspiration from A Tribe Called Quest, Pharcyde, Steel Pulse and Frank Zappa. His main aim is to break new ground for UK hip-hop.

Scally first got into DJ'ing over 10 years ago, mixing hip-hop, hardcore and jungle, moving on to turntablism in the late 90s. Main influences: Dr. Octagon - Kool Keith & DJ QBert.

Tobes started with jungle and drum & bass in before moving on to hip-hop, inspired by Roots Manuva, Vybz Kartel and ODB. He linked up with Scally at art college where they began performing.

Singer Rose Cadogan features on upcoming tracks, bringing to the group her diverse musical tastes including Kim Deal, Wesley Willis and MF Doom.
